The debate around Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise is getting intense by the day as we Bollywood celebs doing blame games on each other. Now veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah has opened about the current scenario and said that people should let Sushant’s soul rest in peace. Talking to Film Companion, the Masoom actor said, “One can only hope for that though the level of the debate is getting more and more juvenile and I see it as completely unnecessary. Why are we washing our dirty underwear in public? Why are actors who have been content now complaining they are not on posters? Why are actors who didn’t get a certain film complaining they didn’t get it? They didn’t get it. There are so many actors who didn’t get it. If everyone of us starts enumerating out complaints, the film industry will seem like the worst place on earth. And I daresay that is true of any industry. First of all I hope this poor Sushant is laid to rest and people just leave him alone.”
Talking about his earlier controversial comment on late Rajesh Khanna, Naseeruddin said, “Sometimes. When I realise, perhaps, I am preaching to the converted. It’s impossible to have a rational argument with a person who has made up his mind. So perhaps the things I said about say, Rajesh Khanna were uncalled for. I overlooked the fact that there are millions who loved him and it must have hurt. I was not making a direct attack at him. I was talking about the system which encouraged and nurtured mediocrity. That was my real intention and unfortunately people took it personally.”
Meanwhile, Naseeruddin will be next seen in the upcoming Amazon Prime Video show Bandish Bandits, which also stars Ritwik Bhowmik and Shreya Chaudhary in pivotal roles.
